Tried and Tested: Our Favourite Tastings

The term “Eat, drink and be merry” does not get taken lightly at Mask HQ. From as early as August we taste this year’s turkey’s right through to less traditional options such as Japanese and Morrocan delicacies all in preparation for our Christmas events. December is the busiest time for the Maskettes, currently with 36 events being produced in 20 days we have accumulated a long list of tastings and these are some we have shortlisted.

Favourite tasting: Sushi Samba

Why : Loved it because Sushi Samba is such a high end, prestigious venue and is very talked about as well as impossible to get into.  Being on the  nosy side as well I was intrigued to know what the food was like! I am a huge lover of sushi, if I had to choose one type of food to have forever this would be it. Delicious. And you can fool yourself that it’s healthy as well.

Favourite dish: I have two :

Crispy Yellowtail Taquitos avocado and lemongrass sauce –So tasty and the tuna was gorgeous.

Kuromitsu Glazed Pork Belly Lettuce Wraps palmito, frisée, micro coriander. – A little challenging to eat but well worth it. The Laurent Perrier champagne was a perfect accompaniment too.

Can’t wait for the events !

Favourite tasting: 8 Northumberland for a seated awards dinner for 400.

Why: The presentation and the way the tasting was carried out was very professional. We got to try a bite sized piece of everything whilst the main dish was displayed in the middle.

Favourite dish: The mini milkshake dessert with chocolate covered popcorn. It was too much!!

Laura Hatton

Favourite Tasting:  MoMo’s

Why :  So much to eat!  The whole tasting was an experience in itself – the way that the waiters carved the lamb, plated it up – poured the fresh mint tea from such a great height it sprayedeverywhere!

Favourite dish:  Couscous Mechoui Slow charcoal whole roasted lamb shoulder with authentic spices.

Aimi Gibbons

Favourite Tasting: Create Head Office for a Christmas seated dinner and dance at the Cutty Sark.

Why : Delicious food from start to finish even the non-alcoholic  drinks were scrumptious especially the lychee and ginger cocktail. Create offer a very personal tasting, watching the cook’s serve behind a glass pane whilst a member from the team talks through each dish

Favourite dish : Asian marinated beef sirloin with parsnip and butternut squash fondants, braised bok choi, soy and sesame carrots, soy dressing.

Cassie Worman

Favourite Tasting:  Shakespeare’s Globe

Why : It is my  favourite venue and I adore the quality of the produce.

Favourite dish: Willy’s alcoholic chocolate pot, cinnamon jumbles with gold leaf

Charlie Stevens

Favourite Tasting: Claridges

Why: The service is impeccable and you get your own personal butler.

Favourite dish : Chocolate Fondant

Claudia Jakubowski

Favourite Tasting: Dartmouth House

Why: I love the traditional feel of the venue! I loved their approach to the menu as it was not a traditional ‘Christmas’ menu and the vegetarian choices were very unique and creative. The arrival cocktail of Raspberry coulis and Champagne was divine!

Favourite dish: Rump of Lamb, Dauphinoise potatoes, swede, carrot confit shallots and rosemary jus

Natalie Bristowe

Favourite Tasting:  Gilgamesh in Camden for a Christmas party.

Why:  A restaurant by day and an exclusive club by night gives this venue a classy vibe. I enjoyed a tasting there with Japanese style food to go with the oriental interior decor of the restaurant, I loved the individual booths, which offered a VIP feel.  The service was excellent, never a glass empty and never going hungry.

Favourite dish:  I particularly enjoyed the Chilean sea bass in black bean and sake sauce, which had a caramelised taste that just melted in my mouth.

With our first Christmas event starting tomorrow we have tried, tested and are as prepared as we are ever going to be. So raise your glasses and  #bringonthemerry
