Food Glorious Food….

Last week the great and the good of the food industry descended on the Victoria and Albert Museum for the Waitrose Summer Party, and MASK were the party planners behind it.

Arriving through the stunningly transformed Cromwell Road entrance, decked with towering birches in huge planters and branded flower beds of summer blooms, guests were wowed by the awe inspiring Dome which is famously home to Dale Chihuly’s Rotunda Chandelier. Flooded in green light and embellished with roving light logos and the summer party’s signature pink branding, The Dome set the scene to celebrate the brand’s successes and reveal their newest and most anticipated products.

Whilst an elegant string quartet provided the perfect ambience, Create (clad smartly in Waitrose aprons) delivered the Waitrose menu including treats from Heston, Delia and Duchy Originals. As the evening went on though it was Heston’s new ice cream range which got everyone excited (we found it impossible to choose our favourite between the Chocolate and Rosemary or the Popcorn Brittle!), and as guests braved his Tequila and Chilli Prosecco Cocktails, Gizzi Erskine (of Channel 4’s ‘Cook Yourself Thin’ fame) really set the party mood as she stepped up to the DJ decks spinning 60s soul classics.

And guests can’t have been too disappointed to have to leave (although some didn’t seem to want to!) as at their departure each was given a goody bag stuffed to the brim with Waitrose treats…and lots of the ‘naughty’ kind. But we were just as disappointed as them really to leave, as just five hours after we’d gained access to the South Kensington Museum as it closed to the public, all was set back to its former neatness and minus our fun additions ready for another day ahead. Oh well, there’ll be a next time.
